Wonder Festival 2018 Winter

Winter Festival 2018 Winter was held on February 18th at Makuhari Messe. As has become their custom, the SpeakerPODcast Crew was on the ground from the moment the event opened and snapped the following pics.

Due to the number of photographs this year, the following has been split into 3 galleries: (1)Macross, mecha and more, (2)Anime and Games, and (3)Original Works.

Leiji Future 2017

Leiji Future was held on December 3 at Tokyo Culture Center. Originally an annual event, but held a little more sporadically in recent years, Leiji Future is a tribute to all things Leiji Matsumoto. It usually includes sellers of related merchandise, panels, screenings of old tv material, and a sketch & autograph session by the man himself (usually projected on a big screen so attendees can watch him work his magic).

The following is a few pics taken at Leiji Future 2017. You can hear our report of the event at the 1:12:55 mark of ep.96 of the SpeakerPODcast.

3×3 Eyes Gengaten

Currently running at Seibu Ikebukuro (Jan.12-Jan.22, 2018), the 3×3 Eyes Gengaten is a fairly extensive exhibit of art from Yuzo Takada’s 3×3 Eyes.

Held to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the manga’s serialisation, the exhibit features illustrations from the series’ inception, all the way up to Takada’s most recent work on the franchise in 2016-2017 as well as an all-new original illustration that he put together for the exhibit.

In an unusual move, photography was actually permitted in most parts of the exhibit, so the SpeakerPODcast Crew put together the following gallery.

Tamashii Nation 2017

The annual Tamashii Nation toy show will be held at the UDX building in Akihabara from Dec.1-3 (with Dec.1 being business day and Dec.2-3 being open to the public).
But who wants to wait until then? The power of Bandai’s VF-2SS drew intrepid SNN reporter Adrian Lozano to the scene for a sneak peak before opening. He managed to snap the following gallery.
Bandai also had a Chogokin YF-19 and 1/48is (unconfirmed) VF-1J on the show floor, however photography of these two items was unfortunately strictly prohibited. Keep an ear to the ground for his full impressions in our next podcast.
